Microsoft has announced the Windows 10 ESU Extension, allowing users to continue receiving security updates for one additional year beyond 2025. This new option helps individual users and businesses stay protected while planning their upgrades.
Windows 10 official support will end on October 14, 2025. After this date, only those enrolled in the Windows 10 ESU Extension will continue to receive security updates.
The Windows 10 ESU Extension provides critical security updates to users who need to keep using Windows 10 after the support deadline. Itβs an essential solution for users requiring extra time to upgrade their systems.
Microsoft offers three easy ways to enroll in the Windows 10 ESU Extension:
Use Windows Backup to sync PC settings β Free
Redeem 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points β Free
Pay a one-time fee of $30 (local prices may vary)
Enrollment will be available in the Windows 10 Settings app starting July 2025 and will fully roll out by mid-August.
Note: Windows Backup and Microsoft Rewards options require a Microsoft account.
Businesses can enroll in the Windows 10 ESU Extension for $61 per device per year, with increasing fees in future years.
This service will not be available in regions such as Russia, Belarus, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria.
